Welcome to the Innovation Hub at St. Lawrence College! Our space is designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving among faculty, staff, and students. To ensure that everyone can make the most of this unique environment, we have established the following community guidelines. These guidelines are intended to create an equitable and inclusive atmosphere where all members can contribute and thrive.

Do’s

  1. Include the Community: The Innovation Hub is meant to welcome community partners. To book the space, you should be working in collaboration with a partner in the surrounding community OR doing a project with the aim of solving a community problem.

  2. Plan for Set-Up and Tear-Down: When booking the space, plan your set-up and tear-down time within your reserved slot. Be prepared to do your own set-up and do your best to ensure it does not disrupt others.

  3. Adapt Furniture for Your Activity: Feel free to move the furniture as needed to accommodate your activity. Create a setup that suits your collaborative goals while ensuring it can be restored to its original arrangement afterward.

  4. Use Resources Wisely: Respect the shared resources of the Innovation Hub. Use materials, equipment, and technology responsibly, and report any issues promptly.

  5. Collaborate Openly: Embrace the spirit of collaboration. Engage with others, share your ideas, and be open to feedback and suggestions from your peers.

  6. Respect Diversity: Treat all individuals with respect, regardless of their background, identity, or perspective. Our community thrives on diverse voices and experiences.

  7. Promote Inclusivity: Make an effort to include others in discussions and activities. Be mindful of those who may feel excluded and strive to create an inclusive environment.

  8. Clean Up After Yourself: Keep the space clean and organized. Dispose of trash properly and return any borrowed equipment to its designated place.

Don’ts

  1. No Recurring Reservations: Do not attempt to reserve or claim the space for recurring or extended periods. The Innovation Hub is meant for open collaboration and not for exclusive use.

  2. No Monopolization of the Space: In order to maintain fair and equitable use of the space, we ask that Faculty do not exceed 8 hours per month and Students do not exceed 5 hours per month (unless agreed upon prior to booking).

  3. No Regular Classroom Activities: The Innovation Hub is not intended for regular classroom activities. Please use the designated classrooms for traditional teaching and learning activities.

  4. No Discrimination or Harassment: Discrimination, harassment, or any form of bullying will not be tolerated. Treat all individuals with kindness and respect.

  5. No Disruptive Behaviour: Avoid disruptive or disrespectful behaviour that may disturb others. This includes excessive noise, music, or disruptive conversations.

  6. No Neglect of Shared Resources: Do not misuse or neglect shared resources. Report any issues or damage promptly so that they can be addressed.

  7. No Personal or Commercial Agendas: The Innovation Hub is for community problem-solving and idea development, not for personal agendas or commercial activities. Please respect the space's purpose.

Failure to adhere to these community guidelines may result in restrictions or loss of access to the Innovation Hub. Let's work together to make this space a hub of innovation, creativity, and inclusivity for everyone at St. Lawrence College.

Note: These guidelines are subject to review and revision as needed to maintain the integrity of the Innovation Hub community.
