Hub Highlights June
The Month of Growth and Planning
While June wasn't packed with back-to-back happenings, it was, however, a significant month of planning and growth for the Innovation Hub. We saw the return of popular initiatives, welcomed new team members, and fostered collaboration across the college community.
Open Podium's Return: Because ideas are better shared
One of the Innovation Hub's staple programs, Open Podium, made its exciting comeback on June 17th. Many enthusiastic participants showcased their innovative ideas, fostering a vibrant environment for creative exchange. Be sure to check out our blog for our announcement of Open Podiums' return to learn more.
Summer Fest Fun with Realms and Enactus
Partnering with Enactus SLC, Realms brought some friendly competition to the Student Associations Summer Fest on June 19th. The Beat Saber tournament was a huge hit, drawing almost 20 participants who battled it out for the coveted crown. With one student who emerged victorious with an impressive score of over 300,000 points, taking home an Oculus Quest 2! The day was filled with lively music, friendly competition, and smiles all around.
Expanding Our Horizons: Welcoming the Cornwall Team
The Innovation Hub is thrilled to announce the expansion to the Cornwall Campus! We've welcomed three fantastic new project managers to the team: Shivani Lade, Jeffrone Miclat, and Thomas Heath. Their expertise and fresh ideas will be instrumental in energizing the Innovation Hub's presence within the Cornwall campus.
Onboarding with Design Thinking
To kick off their journey, the Cornwall team participated in an Ideation Workshop led by Andrea Vargas and Isabel Ledesma. This workshop introduced them to the design thinking framework, equipping them with valuable tools to approach the Cornwall Innovation Hub's launch with creativity and excitement. Leaving the Cornwall campus the Hub’s team was motivated and electrified with the ideas and possibilities of what is to come.
Celebrating Diversity with Enactus SLC's Pride Gallery
The Innovation Hub welcomed Enactus SLC’s vibrant Pride Gallery showcasing the works of three local artists alongside additional contributions from the SLC community. The gallery attracted a significant number of visitors and offered an educational component on the history of the LGBTQ+ movement and its key figures. This event served as a beautiful celebration of diversity and inclusion at SLC.
Looking Ahead
This month was full of new beginnings and laying the foundation to keep the Hub doing what it does best, helping SLC learn and teach our community. We are excited for the upcoming months and what they have in store for us. If you are a faculty member with an idea, or a student with a community-focused initiative please connect with us or stop by the Hub! We would love to collaborate with you on your next project.
